We knocked out 11 shows in 8 cities in 9 days – now it’s time to sleep in my own bed! I somehow became a gigging musician again after 12 years away from the road, but taking nothing for granted this go round and grateful for an opportunity to work on my craft every night. Had a great time groovin’ with Ben Pirani and The Means of Production. Salute all the homies who came out, Blueprint and RJD2, Rude 1, The Colemine Records staff for running a pro operation and having their studio and kitchen in the same room! All the DJs and opening acts + friends…too many to mention. We hit the west Coast in late April, UK in May. Till then, a new Du-Rites 7” and me soaking in epsom salt and enjoying a high thread count. Below is a media dump/slideshow on Instagram. Scroll through with the arrows. Also had to include the meanest drum face of my entire life at the end of the slideshow just because. Shit, the groove was good. Till next time.
Ben Pirani and The Means of Production
I’m fortunate to have played drums on half this album and to be doing shows Ben and Co. Had an audition for the band in 2016, my first ever. Nervous as hell because the musicians were really good and figured at best it’d make me better at auditions. Interviewed Steve Ferrone of Average White Band earlier that day and he gave me some pointers. To my surprise I got the gig and it’s been a great ride and made me a better musician and listener. Super soul, go git it! Buy it here or stream on YouTube below.
